Things to do in Edmonton this Weekend - August 16-18

There are only a few weekends left this summer, make the most of this one by checking out one of Edmontons most popular festivals. The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival starts on Thursday and there are so many great show to experience. If theatre shows are not you thing we have dining experiences, outdoor movies under the stars, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra performing free show and more happening this weekend.

Friday

Catch a Play at The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival
Experience a show or play the The Fringe this weekend, with over 216 theatre productions in 38 venues by more than 1,600 Artists from right here at home, across Canada, and more than 11 countries! Fringe offers many ticketed and FREE events.

Shop the Malla Market Pop-up at The Lot
Shop Local this weekend at one of two back to back events! It’s the first Thursday & Friday at @thelotyeg just off popular 124th street for a fun night of shopping curated vendors, enjoy good music and food trucks. There will be fun features like mini tattoos, permanent jewelry & more - this event is also the pet friendly!  Then Saturday & Sunday be sure to check the market at Kingsway Mall in the entrance one parking lot for a 50+ vendor market.

Watch a Movie Under the Stars
Round up your family, snacks, and lawn chairs for an enchanting evening you won't forget. This one is a community favourite, often attracting up to 1,000 people – so come early to pick your spot.

Try a Date Night at the Prairie Garden Farm
Grab your partner, bestie, or your neighbour and join Prairie Garden Farm for an evening at the farm! When you arrive enjoy a farm discovery tour, trackless train ride, and even a goat schnuggle or two. You can also book a Geodesic Dome.

Try the new Dining Experiences at L’OCA
L’OCA and Chef Paul Moran are introducing new food experiences and cooking classes in their beautiful workspace. New classes are being added every week. Indulge in an evening of hand-selected drinks and Japanese-inspired dinner service prepared by Chef Paul Moran and his culinary team.

Catch the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Outdoors
The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra musicians are on the move! This summer, join members of your ESO in your neighbourhood through ESO Outdoors. Curated groups of ESO members will perform delightful renditions of memorable songs spanning multiple genres, including classical, pops, and Hollywood film scores.

Try a Sturgeon Moon Dinner at Bar OA Farms
Begin the evening with a tour of our family flower farm, and then dine in the field amongst the flowers. Dinners will showcase seasonal produce from our farm, and neighboring farms, with the meal being prepared before you by professional Chefs. Round out the night with smores around the campfire where you will be able to catch a glimpse of the full moon and stars. With each new moon a menu is curated to reflect the best of what is in season.

"Indulge in the Sweet Side of Chinatown" is a guided tour that takes you on a delightful journey to discover the rich cultural heritage and delicious sweet treats that Edmonton Chinatown has to offer. Dragon Food Tours is happening every Saturday throughout the summer at Edmonton's Chinatown.
